iPhone 6 will cost less than Samsung Galaxy S4 set for April release

Published on Jan 31, 2013

Apple’s next iPhone, the alleged iPhone 6, will be cheaper than its forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S4 rival, reports claim.
According to an article published by International Business Times, the new iPhone could be as much as $300 cheaper than Android flagship rivals, including the Samsung Galaxy S4.
However, this seems like a bit of a wild stab in the dark, if we’re honest, as it appears to be an assertion primarily based on the fact that several sources have recently claimed Apple will offer a lower-priced iPhone.
The idea that the company flagship will be cheaper than its rivals doesn’t take into account that many of these rumours also imply there will be multiple models, some cheaper, some at normal premium flagship prices.
Apple may well be reconsidering its pricing structure but is likely doing so only to offer lower-end options too. We doubt very much if it will abandon its premium structure entirely.
The report cites the widely circulating rumour that Apple will offer a lower-priced iPhone with a plastic bodyshell, one which gained greater gravitas recently when images appeared from a previously reliable source.
News from Geeky Gadgets suggests that Samsung’s Galaxy S4 will be launched in April with a release date at some point between April 15 and April 22. The claim sits in-line with earlier rumours.
It cites this information as coming from ‘a source close to a major UK retailer’ which has allegedly ‘been correct with release information in the past’ with accurate launch dates for the iPad Mini and iPhone 5.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is rumoured to have a 5-inch 440ppi display with a 1.8GHz eight-core Exynos Octa 5 Cortex-A15 chip, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera and options for 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage and microSD support.
