Windows 8 prices to increase from 1st February

You may recall our previous post when we advised that until 1st February Windows 8 was being offered at a discount, and a subsequent post about Windows Media Center being free.  Well, unfortunately the deadline is fast coming upon us, and if you want to upgrade you have 12 days to do so.  Upgrading to just the basic version of Windows after this date will costs $119.99 and for Windows 8 Pro $199.99.
The upcoming price increase represent five fold increase in current prices of $39.99, the current price of the upgrade for Windows 8 Pro.  We know that many of you may be concerned about upgrading to Windows 8 due to some negative press about the loss of the start menu, and other differences to Windows 7 and Windows XP.  However, it doesn’t take long to get used to using the new version, and you can read our review of it here.
We fully expect many people to take advantage of this offer before the deadline, so this will provide a much needed boost to the Windows 8 operating system after what has been a disappointing initial take-up.
As a summary here are the full list of prices to take affect from 1st February, so if you were contemplating making the upgrade we recommend you do so now.:
Here’s the full list of prices released today:

  • The Windows 8 upgrade edition will be available online and at retail for $119.99 MSRP (U.S.).
